The Ostberg Architects was established in 1980 by Linda Ostberg. For more than 30 years, it was a small, woman-owned firm located in Saint Paul. They provided design services for small and large projects, and for public and private clients. The guiding philosophy behind their design was a strong belief that the finished design should encourage and enhance the working or learning experience, welcome visitors, and make everyone enthusiastic about being there.
Environmentally conscious, sustainable design was always been important to The Ostberg Architects firm. Linda was involved with renewable energy projects, energy conservation, active and passive solar systems, material reuse, and other sustainable design elements for many years. Always looking for ways to make projects more sustainable through use of local materials, natural ventilation, daylighting, siting, orientation, and resource conservation.
SUSTAINABILITY
While not a new concept, sustainability is perhaps more important today than ever before.
For more than 30 years, our sustainable design philosophy has embraced a range of project strategies and specific design codes, and has resulted in harmonious and green structures.
ENERGY CONSERVATION
Intelligent design and local materials come together in structures that exceed expectations, as well as codes.
CONTEXTURAL REFLECTION
We believe that good architecture honors its environment.
A sense of place and reflection of environment is key to giving context to a structure or remodel project.
“Now that we are retired, Gary & I finally had time to design and develop an equine facility. As a rider and life-long horsewoman, this has been a labor of love, and a dream of mine for many years,” said Linda. “It’s truly a joy to walk into this facility. The horses are happy, the buildings and the environment are harmonious, and the local environment is honored and respected. My hope is that everyone who comes to visit leaves with a strong sense how we’ve put the horse first, along with the environment.”
